Without the mother in sight, a newborn chick starts staggering around, searching for food and warmth.

CHICKEN KIEV was the graduation film of Thomas Stellmach at the Art College of Kassel. This short cartoon film was supported by the Hessian Broadcast TV, the Hessian State, the Federal Government for Cultural Affairs and Media and the Institute of Film Subsidy. The colouring, the graphic and the sound design were made digital. A crew of 20 students and professionals collaborated via email between Cassel, Mainz, Cologne and Berlin. The animation was drawn on paper, were digitized with a line test software on Amiga and exchanged via internet. After tracing the animation the 15.000 clean ups were scanned and coloured with the software Animo. The sound was recorded at Solid-Sound and mixed at the Bavaria Studios. The final digital images were transferred on 35mm film at "Das Werk" and combined with the soundtrack at Taunus-Film-Laboratory.
